About Northwest Knife Sharpening
Sharpened for how you use it.
Home cooks, hunters, woodworkers, gardeners, and culinary professionals all need something different from an edge. Northwest Knife Sharpening inspects the tool, understands the job, and restores a clean, reliable cutting surface.
The approach is simple: communicate clearly, respect the tool, do the work carefully, and return it ready to be used.

The Master Sharpener
Alan Fossum
Alan grew up in Auburn, Washington, in a family shaped by farming and skilled carpentry. His father, Lloyd, was a master carpenter, and sharp tools were part of daily life. Alan began taking knife and tool sharpening seriously around age ten.
That early practice carried into a career as a finish carpenter, homebuilder, and construction professional. Cabinetry, doors, fine woodworking tools, farm tools, cutlery, axes, and mower blades all demanded an edge that worked correctly. Northwest Knife Sharpening is the continuation of that lifelong craft.
